Every investment program has the potential for loss as well as gain.

Please do not contact Patrick Geddes seeking advice or recommendations on the investments discussed in the material on patrickgeddes.co. Patrick Geddes is not seeking wealth management clients. Seriously, folks, it’s not a back-door sales effort, but rather just an effort to educate consumers.

All the above is the kind of disclosure language required from financial advisors by regulators. The sad part is that advisors are not required to share with their clients the poor odds offered by active strategies. Thus, the legally required disclosures may provide some benefit, but the real benefit to consumers goes beyond just understanding not to extrapolate past performance. The key is understanding how hard it can be to beat the market after fees and taxes when relying on active strategies.
